Yambol is located on both sides of the Tounzha River. It’s a very old town and offers an interesting mix of cultural and historical sights. The St. George church with a remarkable iconostasis, the Roman baths, the Middle Ages fortress, etc all offer spectacular insights into the glorious and colourful past of Yambol. Archaeologists date Yambol’s birth to around 6,000 B.C. There is also a medieval castle in Yambol and Kabile an ancient Thracian settlement are the other major draws.
