Borovets has the distinction of being located on the slopes of the picturesque Rila Mountains at the foot of the highest peak in the country, Moussala. Founded as the hunting grounds for the royalty way back in 1896, today’s Borovets has come a long way since then. Currently, it is a very popular ski resort with swanky and luxurious star hotels, restaurants, and an excellent network of ski slopes with varying difficulty levels. The Borovets ski resort also offers a wide range of ski entertainment and exciting nightlife as well as tours to places of interest in the mountains. Winter season is mild, with snow and clean and invigorating air making the place a great place to be. For those who do not enjoy much of skiing, they can enjoy a visit to the Rila Monastery.
