The town of Burgas or Bourgas is the second largest city on the coast along Black Sea. The population of the town is around 210,000, and main occupation is related to industry and trade. Burgas also has the Bourgas Lake and lies at a distance of 390 kms from Sofia in the east direction, while being situated between Atansasovo and the Black Sea. The region has rich and old history dating back to many centuries. You will be able to see many architectural and archaeological relics belonging to the Roman, Byzantine and Thracian era. Besides this, historical monuments from the first and second state of Bulgaria, Christian cathedrals, monasteries and museums add further historical value to this city.
