Sozopol is one of the oldest towns on the Thrace's Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. A small ancient town, it is located 30 km south of Burgas on the southern Black Sea Coast. Today the town has turned into a seaside resort known for the Apollonia art and film festival (which takes place in early September) and is named after one of Sozopol's ancient names.
Summer months from May to September are the busiest times of the year, as tourists from around the world come to enjoy the clement weather, clean sandy beaches, history and culture, fusion cuisine (Bulgarian, Greek, Turkish), and the overall atmosphere of this colourful and unique resort. Dubbed the Bulgarian St. Tropez, due to its increasing popularity is a huge draw for many including stars like Ralph Fiennes, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Goldfrapp who visit it often to explore its beauty and charm.
