Situated in the western Rodopi (Rhodope as it is also written) mountain slopes of the Battashki ridge, around 60 km to Plovdiv, Batak is an extraordinary beautiful town, famous for its rich historic past. The UNESCO protected Dupkata reserve is a nature phenomenon of national and worldwide importance because of the rare plants and animal species that are living there. Its nearest ski resort is Pamporovo.
