The town of Berkovitsa is located in Montana Province, at the northern foot of Berkovski Balkan mountain, in the Western Stara Planina mountain range. Berkovitsa is situated along the valley of the Berkovitsa River and is close to the town of Varshets. The town of Berkovitsa is around 90 Km north of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. In Berkovitsa is a place called Kaleto Hill that has the remains of a fortress and a church from 4th Century.
